A great opportunity for an individual with strong organizational and time management skills. The ideal candidate is able to work as a mechanic in a fast paced environment in the field of landscape maintenance and construction. They will collaborate with our management team to ensure equipment and machinery is maintained at the optimum working condition while our field team is supported.
  • Report daily to Shop Manager, respond to calls in support of Maintenance and Construction teams.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance of typical gas powered and mixed fuel landscape pieces of machinery/equipment.
  • Performs regular preventative maintenance on diesel and gas powered construction related equipment/machinery.
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair with ability to dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Initiate purchase order parts and machines and orchestrates repair schedule. Maintain and organize parts inventory.
  • Inspect defective parts and make a determination for the correct course of action with the ability to repair defective parts prior to purchasing.
  • Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunction or to test performance.
  • Sharpen tools such as blade, shears, and other metal equipment used for cutting.
  • Off season trailer and equipment maintenance to prepare for spring rollout and other seasonal changes.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions as well as deal with problems involving variables in repair situations.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a similar small engine/equipment/yellow iron environment - IE- mowers, skidsteers, trailers( wiring and welching experience a plus).
  • Current driver’s license required for driving company vehicle(s) for on-site repairs, refueling equipment or to pick up parts as necessary.
  • Skidsteer, front-end loader and backhoe operation experience preferred. Massachusetts hoisting license a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Positive attitude and strong customer service skills.
  • Good verbal communication.
  • Professional and clean appearance.
  • Diligent attention to safety policies.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis
  • Ability to bend and stoop repeatedly
  • Able to work on feet for extended period of time
  • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Willingness and ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns and other environmental factors
